Kirby's Extra Epic Yarn
Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn has a charming yarn aesthetic, cozy vibes, and creative level design, and all of that is still here. Kirby’s still a little string boy, the world is made of fabric, and the whole thing feels like playing through a living craft project.

The biggest issue tho? The sales were rough. Like, Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey levels of rough. Both games were late-era 3DS remakes that nobody really asked for, and both kinda flopped commercially. The worst part is that this game had so much potential. Imagine if they’d gone all-in, new worlds, more transformations, maybe even online co-op. Instead, we got a decent-but-unnecessary port that barely moved units. It’s a shame because they're fantastic games at its core, but releasing it on a dying system with minimal new content just wasn’t the move. Nintendo really fumbled the timing here, this would’ve been perfect as a Switch port with upgraded visuals and proper co-op.
That said, if you never played the original, Extra Epic Yarn is still a great time. The visuals hold up surprisingly well on the 3DS, the soundtrack is as whimsical as ever, and the gameplay is relaxing in a way few platformers are. But if you’ve already experienced the Wii version, there’s not enough here to justify a double dip. It’s a solid game stuck in a bad situation, and that’s a bummer because Kirby and the fans deserved better.
