Gorgeous rain-soaked Tokyo, banger RADWIMPS soundtrack and a love story that's sweet but messy (sorry, Your Name fans, it's not topping that). The animation's stupidly pretty and the plot's got big «would you sacrifice the world for love?» energy. Feels less tight than Shinkai's other works, but still a vibe.

Chainsaw Man follows Denji, a traumatized dude who merges with his devil dog thing named Pochita to become a half human and half chainsaw killing machine. But instead of some noble hero journey, he’s just out here trying to survive, get laid and eat a decent meal (relatable). The action is brutal, the humor is pitch black and the characters are all gloriously messed up in their own ways.

Bocchi the Rock! is a hilarious and painfully relatable anime about Hitori Gotoh (a.k.a. «Bocchi» and «Guitar Hero»), an extreme introvert who dreams of rock stardom but can barely function in social situations. Part 1 sets the stage with Loid adopting Anya and engaging Yor, leading to a mix of heartwarming bonding and spy shenanigans. Anya’s desperate attempts to keep her parents from figuring each other out are gold. The animation pops, the action’s crisp and the family dynamic, despite being built on lies is surprisingly wholesome. Part 2 ramps up the chaos with new faces like Fiona, Loid’s jealous coworker, and Bond, family's new dog. The show keeps the humor, action and awww moments, proving even assassins and spies can be adorable dorks when it comes to parenting. Meanwhile, Season 2 shifts focus to Yor, diving into her assassin life and the cruiser arc, where her skills (and marriage) are put to the test. Unlike Deku’s shiny hero journey, this prequel dives into the messy, unlicensed side of heroism: think petty thugs, shady drug rings and morally gray fights where the "good guys" aren’t always sanctioned. The tone’s more mature, with darker arcs (like Stendhal’s descent) and a ragtag trio dynamic (Koichi’s earnestness, Pop☆Step’s sass and Knuckleduster’s Batman but angrier vibe) that keeps it fresh.

The series fleshes out MHA’s world-building, showing how heroes like Eraser Head and Ingenium used to operate, while teasing connections to the main story. It’s got less flashy action but more character depth, Koichi’s growth from a selfdoubt ridden guy to a legit hero (hoodie and all) is more relatable than Deku’s OFA turbo charged rise. Plus, Knuckleduster’s backstory hits like a truck. If you want MHA with a side of noir and punchy life lessons, Vigilantes delivers.

After Jun Kazama tells Jin to seek out Heihachi Mishima after their peaceful life style gets wrecked. The training under Heihachi is brutal (because, duh, it’s Heihachi), and you see Jin transform from a grieving kid into a tournament ready beast. The animation’s crisp, especially during the fights, every punch and kick feels heavy. Jin’s journey from scrappy underdog to rage-fueled warrior is intense, and the show nails the dark, gritty tone of the TEKKEN universe. Don’t expect deep lore dives tho, it’s more about fast paced brawls and revenge vibes.

It also digs into Jin’s internal tug of war between Jun’s compassion and Heihachi’s ruthless survivalism, it’s what makes his arc so gripping. Jun’s influence keeps Jin human, grounding him in empathy and restraint, while Heihachi’s brutal philosophy pushes him toward cold, calculated power. You see it in every fight: Jin hesitates when he could finish an opponent, wrestles with his anger, then snaps and embraces the violence when pushed too far. The anime doesn’t spell it out, but you feel that ambivalence on him, like he’s fighting himself as much as his enemies.

Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy is an ultimately satisfying conclusion to the Hope's Peak saga, split into two arcs, Future (a tense, deadly thriller) and Despair (a tragic prequel), plus a one episode Hope Arc finale to tie it all together. Future throws Makoto and the survivors into another killing game, this time with Future Foundation members, while Despair reveals how the 77th Class was corrupted, with Chiaki Nanami being the emotional core. The pacing's uneven (Future drags in spots and Despair rushes key moments, again) but the payoff in Hope Arc makes it worth it.

The OVA, Super Danganronpa 2.5: Nagito Komaeda and the Destroyer of the World is a weird but fun side story where Nagito battles Izuru in a virtual world. The fandub is decent (Sonia's voice is spot-on!) tho it's more of a bonus than essential viewing.

DAN DA DAN is both weird, hilarious and heartfelt. The show follows Momo, a girl who believes in ghosts, and Okarun, an alien-obsessed loner, as they get dragged into a world where both their beliefs turn out to be horrifyingly real. The first episode alone sets the tone: Turbo Granny, a cursed ghost who wants Okarun’s dick (yeah, you read that right) and the Serpo (aliens who wanna breed with earthlings) crash into their lives, forcing them to team up in the most absurd ways. The mix of supernatural horror, over the top action, and awkward teen romance makes it feel fresh, even when it’s gleefully ridiculous.

What really stands out is how the show balances its insanity with genuine emotion, like Acrobatic Silky’s tragic backstory or Momo’s growing bond with Okarun (and the love triangle with Aira). The animation’s fluid when it needs to be, but the real charm is in its expressive character reactions and chaotic energy. Fun fact: The mangaka, Yukinobu Tatsu, used to be an assistant for Chainsaw Man’s Tatsuki Fujimoto, and you can totally see the influence in the unhinged, fast-paced storytelling. If you like your anime with zero chill and a side of existential dread, DanDaDan delivers.

This movie is peak Jack Black energy, imagine a down on his luck doorknob salesman (Steve) stumbling into a mine, finding some magic stuff (the Orb of Dominance and Earth Crystal), and getting yeeted into the Overworld, where he builds his own cubic paradise. But of course, things go sideways when he pisses off Malgosha, a piglin dictator with a serious hate boner for creativity. The plot gets even crazier when a washed up ‘80s gamer (Garrett), two grieving siblings (Henry and Natalie), and a mobile zoo running realtor (Dawn) get sucked into the chaos. There’s crafting, piglin battles, a literal Great Hog boss fight, and Steve being… well, Jack Black in a blocky world.

This thing is unhinged in the best way. The humor’s chaotic, the action’s ridiculous, and the whole thing feels like a love letter to Minecraft’s sandbox madness. Jack Black as Steve is chef’s kiss. Would it make sense to non gamers? Probably not. Is it a gloriously stupid funtime? Absolutely.
