Gekijōban Dōbutsu no Mori (translated as Animal Crossing: The Movie) is is cute and colorful adventure which captures that cozy, small-town vibe we all love, but the plot’s kinda all over the place—like, it’s got drama, time travel, and a talking raccoon, but it doesn’t always mesh well. It’s fun seeing the villagers and their quirky personalities, but it feels more like a series of random events than a solid story. Still, if you’re into the games, it’s worth a watch for the warm fuzzies and that iconic Animal Crossing charm. Just don’t expect a masterpiece.
Plus, it has fandub from start to finish, and as a latin (we're really picky about dubbing quality, y'know?), I can tell it's a surprisingly solid effort from the fan community, and honestly, it’s pretty impressive for a non-official project. The voice acting ranges from decent to genuinely good, with some performers nailing the quirky, laid-back tone of the characters. You can tell it's fanmade tho, there are moments where the audio quality or delivery feels a bit off, but overall, it’s clear a lot of love and effort went into it. The script stays faithful to the original Japanese dialogue while adding some fun, localized touches that fans of the games will appreciate. For a fandub, it’s a fantastic way to experience the movie in English, especially if you’re a die-hard Animal Crossing fan.
