Sailor Moon
So, I stumbled on this old Sailor Moon VN, and honestly? It’s way more charming than I expected, like, it's basically just clicking through dialogue and making the occasional choice but the pixel art is so pretty and the story feels like an interactive little side episode they forgot to animate. The story picks up right after the Makai Tree arc, with the Dark Kingdom's generals getting resurrected as puppets by Past Wiseman, 'cuz of course he’s behind it. Nephrite manages to break free, ends up with Naru (aww
) and drops a warning about the Emerald Gate before the other Kings snatch him back. It's classic Sailor Moon: dramatic, a little cheesy and full of those character moments fans love. The writing feels like it could've easily been a lost episode, tho whether it’s canon or not is up for debate.

Gameplay-wise, don’t expect much. It’s a VN through and through, so your main interaction is picking dialogue options. Some choices unlock achievements (or whatever the '90s equivalent was), but here’s the kicker, there’s barely any guidance on how to get them. No walkthroughs, no clear hints, just trial and error. Save often, spam choices and pray. The runs are shorts as well.
The real star here is the presentation. The pixel art is detailed, vibrant, expressive and oozing '90s anime charm. And the music? Two original tracks by the Peach Hips (the OG voice actresses! ) slap harder than Usagi's tiara throws. It's a shame they weren't used more in the actual anime, because they’re absolute bops.
