Delia: The Traveling Witch

Delia: The Traveling Witch is one of those games that just radiates charm from the very first screen. You play as… Delia, a witch traveling… cinema2 with her adorable glowing pig buddy Bao through the Glutinous Kingdom. It kicks off with a simple request to help a sick kid but before you know it, you're thrown into an adventure that takes you all over this magical world. The story is simple and sweet, but it's packed with funny dialogue and random moments that'll make you chuckle and the ending is genuinely cute. TeeheeSmile

Gameplay-wise, it's mostly an action platformer so you'll be jumping around levels, talking to a bunch of quirky NPCs and exploring different locations. Controls feels super responsive, which is great because you'll need it. What I didn't expect were the shoot em up sections, yeah, the game randomly turns into a little vertical schmup for a bit and it's a fun twist that keeps things fresh. The level design is solid and the world map is interactive, which is a cool touch that makes exploring feel more connected. 92_MadoromiEheh

Visually, the game is built in GB Studio and you can feel that, but the pixel art is fantastic, the character portraits that pop up during dialogue are adorable and add personality. The color palettes are used really well giving each area its own vibe, the music and sound effects are charming too but sometimes when there's a ton of enemies on screen it lags a little. The game is short, like an hour or two, but it's packed with content. There are multiple levels, lots of NPCs to chat with and even some bonus artwork to unlock. The boss fights are a mixed bag tho, some are quick and fun but the second Mira fight is tough, glad dev nerfed it. nobara_sigh Plus, there's no health bar for bosses, which makes it hard to tell how close you are to winning but the dev mentioned that's due to Game Boy memory limits. Still, once you figure out the pattern it's manageable and the final boss is cool, beating it feels rewarding. IvyProud
