Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side: 1st Love Plus
Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side: 1st Love Plus is basically the quintessential high school dating sim but flipped to be from a girl's perspective and lemme tell you, it's way more stressful than actual high school ever was.
You're thrown into a three years cycle of raising stats like academics, art and sport while also juggling a squad of potential boyfriends who all have specific preferences and will literally get upset if you so much as wear the wrong colored ribbon on a date.
The DS version throws in a skinship mechanic where you have to poke and prod the guy during dates to build intimacy, which sounds cute until you accidentally touch a sensitive spot and he's like «Stop that» and you're left sitting there feeling like a total creep.
Then there's the bomb system, which is basically the game punishing you for having the audacity to be nice to more than one person, ignore a guy for too long and he'll get all frowny and start a rumor that tanks your rep with everyone else.
The fashion aspect is actually pretty fun tho, since you can drop your allowance on cute fits and change outfits based on the season or what vibe your date is into, even if your wallet is constantly crying about it.
The girls you befriend are honestly the best part because they'll study with you or help you out but they can also become love rivals if you're gunning for the same guy, leading to this awkward drama where you either lose a friend or lose a potential boyfriend. It's surprisingly deep with how all the systems interconnect and even when you're failing exams or making chocolates that look like crap, the game has this addictive quality that makes you wanna go through it all over again just to see if you can finally get that church confession ending without something blowing up in your face.

Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side: 2nd Kiss
Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side: 2nd Kiss takes everything from the first game and goes «Okay, but what if we made the boys even more crush worthy and swapped the church legend for a mermaid story?» You're still stuck in that three years stat raising grind studying, dressing up and watching out for the bombs, but the skinship feature returns and it's still awkward, like you're on a date and suddenly poking the dude's face still hoping he doesn't get annoyed and the fashion system can get repetitive, especially when your wallet's crying over seasonal trends.
The rival girls are back too but honestly they're more fun to hang out with than compete against. However, the gameplay feels slower than the first and the secret characters are either a total shut in or a massive jerk who you kinda wish you could just tell off but the overall vibe is comfier, the music slaps and when you finally get that confession at the lighthouse, it actually feels earned, even if half your playthrough was spent reloading saves because you accidentally bombed your rep with everyone else.

Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side: 3rd Story
Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side: 3rd Story is basically the series firing on all cylinders since the stat raising formula is so addictive here. Again, you've got that three years grind of studying, dressing up and managing your social life, but now you can actually shape the main character's personality, which makes her feel like way more than a blank slate, plus your two best friends Karen and Miyo are actual characters with their own stories instead of just rival bait.
There's even a love triangle mode where you can date two guys at once and watch them get all competitive over you, it's dramatic and sometimes hilarious, especially when they start roasting each other during dates.
The art got a gorgeous upgrade too with the guys looking sharper than ever and Ruka actually has real flaws and family drama that make his route hit harder than the usual princely types. Even the secret characters are great and there's no rival system anymore so you can actually breathe without worrying about your friends stealing your guy. Some people miss it but honestly the trade off is worth it when you get moments like Karen and Miyo just being ride or die pals.
It's the kind of game that makes you lose track of time tweaking your stats just so you can trigger that one event where the guy notices your new outfit and even if you somehow end up single at graduation, the journey still feels satisfying.
