Tomodachi Life
Tomodachi Life is basically a "digital fish tank" for your Miis, but instead of just watching them swim around you get to watch 'em fall in love, start drama and occasionally rap battle each other. Start by naming your own island (go wild, call it whatever), then you populate it with Miis of your friends, family, celebrities or whoever/whatever you'd like. The game pulls from your 3DS's Mii Maker or lets you build new ones from scratch.
Then you tweak their personality with sliders that decide how energetic, outgoing or straight up weird they are. After that, they move into an apartment and suddenly you're their landlord, chef, therapist, stylist and wingman all rolled into one. Collect your donations from the fountain, relax and watch your fishies swim.

The daily grind is simple: feed 'em, dress 'em, fix their drama. You earn currency by solving their little problems, then blow it on weird food (real photos, which is oddly charming) and ridiculous hats. The real juice comes from relationships,
Miis will randomly crush on each other and you decide to push them together or watch them fail spectacularly. They'll marry, have kids, go on honeymoons to absurd places and occasionally rap battle at the fountain. There's also a concert hall where you can perform your self-written musical numbers, a goofy RPG minigame and dream sequences that range from cute to nightmare fuel.
The graphics are simple too, basically what you'd expect from Mii games but that's all part of the charm. The text to speech voices sound like robotic versions of your friends, which is either endearing or annoying dependant on your mood. And the game really works best when you've got a good amount subjects, if you only have a handful of Miis, nothing real interesting happens. The StreetPass support was super cool, in its prime, letting travelers visit your island and leave gifts. Good luck in 2026, I've had a few hits, but times are had for StreetPass nowadays.
But soon the novelty of being an all seeing deity may wear off. The same requests loop, the dialogue repeats and you yearn for more.
Sure, it runs out of steam eventually but the first month or two are magical, cozy and very amusing. You'll spend hours playing and forget all about it, until you "rediscover" the charm. Go in knowing it's a silly little side thing, not some deep life sim and you'll have a blast. It's not deep, it's not endless, but watching your friend's Mii marry a celebrity and move to the moon? Totally worth it.
Tomodachi Enterprise
Imagine over twenty new "foods", new room designs, more clothing, fresh dialogue and even brand new activities. Ever wanted to recreate that popular superhero movie where a purple guy has a fancy glove and battles superheroes, now its possible. Ever wanted a Glock? Just make your Miis happy enough and force multipliers for everyone.
The real time animated rooms and secret easter eggs just add another layer of flavour. This is a real "for the fans" project 3 years in the making and the perfect way to "freshen up" the Tomodachi experience and the perfect example of why Nintendo should officially support mods.| ENTERPRISE PROJECT | |

Gay Mod
And then there's the big one: the gay mod. Of course Nintendo had there "supposed reasons" at the time, but the base game only lets Miis crush on the opposite gender.
But hold the pitchforks, a hero comes...
And they have made every Mii on your island bi, love confessions, marriages, now without gender restrictions. Even kids, no documentation needed. No more forced heterosexuality. They fixed the housing, the dream sequences, the compatibility tester, everything. There's still some jank, like misgendered dialogue during confessions or weddings always having one dress and one tux but that can be overlooked for a chance to digitally simulate your gay fantasies. Some would consider this peak Tomodachi. ![]()
