Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk…
Milk inside a bag of milk inside a bag of milk… throws you straight into the deep end of someone else's fractured mind. The premise is deceptively simple: you're a voice inside a girl's head and your job is to help her complete the mundane task of buying a bag of milk from the corner store. Sounds easy, right? Wrong.
What should be a 5 minute errand becomes an anxiety ridden spiral through her perception of reality, she can't walk properly without obsessing over which foot is on the asphalt or the grass, she can barely formulate her sentences at the beginning and everything around her looks drenched in shades of red and black. You, the 'player', guide her through this by picking dialogue options: be supportive and she might just make it, be a jerk and she'll shut down entirely, giving you a game over. It's real short, clocking in at maybe 20 minutes for a full playthrough but it doesn't waste a single second of that time.

The heart of the game is that unnamed protagonist, affectionately dubbed Milk-chan by the community. She's endearing but in a tragic way: as you accompany her, you start piecing together her backstory through her fragmented inner monologue and the bizarre interactions she has with the world around her.
The game doesn't spell anything out for you, it just throws you into her headspace and lets you figure it out, but underneath the surreal weirdness is a raw honest portrayal of someone grappling with severe trauma, mental illness and an abusive home life. It's uncomfortable, it's messy and it feels real.
| She said the thing |
Visually, the game is a masterpiece of low fi abstract horror. The NES-like pixel art is so distorted that sometimes you can't even tell what you're looking at, that's intentional tho. The soundtrack, if you can call it that, creates this constant low grade sense of dread that never quite lets up, some people might call it ugly or annoying but that's the point. It's designed to make you feel as uncomfortable and on edge as the protagonist does, and in that respect, it's incredibly effective.
What really sets this game apart tho is how it handles mental health. There's a tendency in media to romanticize or exploit mental illness for dramatic effect but this game avoids that trap entirely, it's not trying to be «deep» or «edgy», it's just showing you a reality, unfiltered and unflinching. The protagonist doesn't even get a happy ending, she just survives the day, buys the milk and returns home to keep fighting her illness and coping her abuse everyday. You're not supposed to fix her, you're just supposed to bear witness to her struggle.
So, is it worth your time? Absolutely, especially if you're into experimental storytelling or psychological horror. It's not trying to be fun, it's trying to make you feel something, and in that regard, it succeeds brilliantly and that's something only few games can pull off.

(Psst, hey)
Huh…? What is it now?
(We need to download the game)
… Download?
(Yeah, the game, the one you're in)
Oh, right. I forgot again.
…
So… what do I do?
(Just click the download button)
I clicked it. Now it says something about a… .RAR file?
(You have to extract it, like, unzip it. Take all the stuff out of it, then take the files and put them on the root of the SD card)
Root of the… what?
(Just… the main folder, the top level. Not inside any other folder, just put it there)
… I did it, I think. Now what?
(Now you only install the .CIA and play the game)
Okay, it's installed now. I guess we're done… Now let's buy the milk.
