Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time is the gold standard for beat 'em ups and it's one of those rare cases where the home console port actually outshines the arcade original. The gameplay loop is simple but incredibly addictive, you pick your favorite turtle (Donnie for the reach obviously Scheme) and you just go to town on endless waves of Foot Clan goons. The real star of the show tho is the throwing mechanic, grabbing a stunned enemy and chucking them right at the screen is as satifying as it sounds and it's even used in one of the coolest boss fights where you have to throw dudes at Shredder while he's in the foreground. The whole package is dripping with the cartoon's charm from the colorful pixel art to the catchy soundtrack. LeeLeonardo

The time travel hook gives the level design a lot of variety, taking you from the sewers of New York to the prehistoric era, a pirate ship and even the year 2020. Awau Each stage has its own vibe with different hazards and boss fights that keep things from feeling too repetitive, even tho you're basically just punching and kicking the whole time, the difficulty is pretty fair too with a good amount of continues to keep you going. The SNES ports adds some extra goodies like the Technodrome stage and Mode 7 bonus levels which make it the definitive way to play. AYAYAPink

For this round of awesome hacks, first off is the text cleanup patch that just fixes all the typos and misspellings scattered throughout the game, nothing game changing but it's a nice touch for anyone who cringes at «Stone Worrier» or other weird translation quirks. pikagross Then you've got the dash hack, which lets you run by pressing L or R instead of double tapping the D-pad, just like how it works in Hyperstone Heist. Finally, there's a balance tweaks hack that addresses some of the janky hit detection and character imbalances, Mikey is clearly OP in the base game so this patch gives Leo, Donnie and Raph some much needed love by extending the range on certain attacks and bumping up damage for Donnie's moves. It also fixes that weird invisible wall on the right side of the screen, making movement feel way more consistent. These hacks don't mess with the core vibe, they just polish things up so the game plays as good as it looks. MikeyLove
