Pokémon Following Renegade Platinum

Pokémon Platinum is the best version of the Sinnoh trilogy, no doubt. It refines what was already good in Diamond and Pearl, with smoother gameplay and better pacing. The addition of the Distortion World is one of the coolest, most surreal environments in a Pokémon game, and Giratina's Origin Forme is an absolute boss. Plus, the Battle Frontier gives you more to chew on post-game. However, it’s still a DS-era Pokémon game, so it’s not breaking boundaries in terms of story or complexity. But for fans of classic Pokémon mechanics with a touch of polish, Platinum delivers a solid adventure.

Pokémon Renegade Platinum is a romhack of Pokémon Platinum created by Drayano. It takes the original Platinum experience and cranks it up several notches. It expands the Pokédex by allowing players to catch every Pokémon in the game, adjusts the difficulty to be significantly more challenging, and reworks many of the battles to be more strategic. The game includes quality-of-life changes, like making Evolution Stones more accessible and allowing trade evolutions without needing another player.

If you thought Pokémon Platinum was a breeze, Renegade Platinum will make you sweat. The hack reworks trainer rosters, making battles more complex and requiring real strategy rather than brute-forcing your way through. The inclusion of Pokémon from across the first four generations is a big bonus, as it gives you a wider variety of team-building options from the start. It's essentially a Platinum experience for the hardcore fan, with a nostalgic yet fresh feel to it. The only downside? The increased difficulty might turn off casual players, but for die-hards, this is pure gold.

Following Platinum is another fan-made hack of Pokémon Platinum that introduces a long-awaited feature: having your Pokémon follow you around, similar to HeartGold and SoulSilver. It sticks closely to the original Platinum in terms of plot and difficulty but adds this adorable feature as its main selling point. All Pokémon can walk behind you, and each has its own sprite for when it follows you in the overworld. It’s a small but meaningful addition to the original Platinum formula. While it doesn’t change the battles or story in any significant way, it enhances the overall charm of the game. Plus, it’s a feature that fans have been asking for in more games ever since HeartGold and SoulSilver. If you loved the idea of having your Pokémon side by side with you, this hack hits just the right spot.
