Runbow: Deluxe Edition
Runbow is a wild, fast-paced platformer that’s all about racing to the finish line while the world around you constantly shifts colors. The twist? Platforms appear and disappear based on the background color, so you’re always second-guessing your next move. It’s like a platformer on steroids, with a side of chaos. The Deluxe Edition bundles in all the DLC from the Wii U version, so you get extra costumes, stages, and guest characters like Shantae, Shovel Knight and Juan from Guacamelee! It’s a party game at heart, perfect for quick solo runs or heated local multiplayer battles.

Alright, first off, being a New 3DS exclusive is… a choice. I mean, why? The game isn’t exactly a graphical powerhouse, and it feels like the regular 3DS could’ve handled it with a few tweaks. But nope, they decided to lock it behind the New hardware. If you’re stuck with an older model, I tried to bypass this restriction. But fair warning: even if you manage to get it running, it might not be smooth sailing.
That said, gameplay is cool. The color-shifting mechanic is still as fresh and frantic as ever, and the controls are tight enough to keep up with the chaos. The levels are cleverly designed to keep you on your toes, and the added DLC content gives the game plenty of replay value. The humor and charm are also on point, it’s got that indie game vibe where it doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s part of its appeal. However, the smaller screen of the 3DS can make things feel a bit cramped, especially when the action gets intense. Still, if you’ve got friends nearby, it’s a riot to play together.
It’s not the definitive version (that honor goes to the Switch version), but it’s a fun, frantic experience that’s perfect for handheld gaming. Just don’t expect it to blow your mind, it’s more of a «let’s kill 10 minutes and end up playing for an hour» kind of game.
