SNATCHER
SNATCHER is a cyberpunk detective story that throws you into the shoes of Gillian Seed, a guy with no memory who joins a special police unit to hunt down robots called Snatchers, these things kill people and steal their lives. Right from the jump, you can tell it's a Hideo Kojima joint packed with his signature style before METAL GEAR SOLID blew up.

The whole thing plays like an interactive graphic novel, you spend most of your time exploring locations from a first person view, clicking through commands like Look and Talk to piece clues together, it's immersive pulling you into its world but it can also be a bit of a hassle. Sometimes you gotta click on everything in a room, in just the right order, to nudge the story forward. It's a product of its time for sure and it makes you appreciate how far adventure games have come. There are also shooting sections that pop up like in Policenauts, which are a fun break from all the dialogue.
Where this game really shines is the story and world building, the city of Neo Kobe is dripping with atmosphere, a grimy neon soaked metropolis that feels alive. You get hooked trying to unravel the mystery of the Snatchers alongside Gillian's own lost past. The game feeds you lore through this computer system called JORDAN, which lets you look up info on characters and events. It's optional, but diving into it makes the world feel incredibly deep and thought out. The themes are classic weighty sci-fi stuff, what makes someone human, isolation in a connected world, all that good stuff and it's handled in a way that's engaging without getting too pretentious.
The presentation is a huge standout. The art is detailed and moody, with some surprisingly graphic imagery that drives you the horror of the Snatchers menace.
The voice acting is legitimately great for its era, bringing characters like your snarky robot partner Metal Gear to life. The music sets the tone perfectly from tense synth tracks to quieter melancholic moments, it all comes together to create a vibe that's both nostalgic and timeless.
It's not without its rough edges tho. Gillian is kinda creep
and the story wears its inspirations (Blade Runner and Terminator) proudly on its sleeve but its heart is in the right place. The characters grow on you as they all grapple with their own loneliness and slowly form a weird found family.
