Discord
Discord is pretty much the place to be if you want to hang out with friends, join communities or keep up with your favorite games and creators. It's a messaging platform built around servers, where you can chat through text channels, exchange files, make voice and video calls and even stream your screen.
Whether you're coordinating a gaming session, sharing memes or just spending way too much time chatting, there's literally a server for anything. Of course, Discord hasn't exactly had the smoothest time lately with its fair share of controversies along the way,
but love it or hate it, it's still a pretty big part of internet culture. And while the platform has official apps for most modern devices, the Nintendo 3DS was unfortunately left out of the party. Well, not anymore!
TriCord is an unofficial Discord client, bringing a surprisingly capable messaging experience to our little handheld. You can log in using a QR code or your email and password, browse your servers, channels and forum threads, send messages with emoji and see embeds, reactions and replies.
It even supports multiple accounts, custom themes and different languages. However, don't expect the full Discord experience: TriCord is primarily a text based client, so voice and video calls, screen sharing and other features aren't part of the package. Performance can also be a little rough on old 3DS systems and having too many servers can cause problems when loading your server list.

Now, about safety, I personally inspected TriCord's source code while working on a translation,
and I can confirm that the application is safe and contains nothing suspicious, by contrast, it encrypts the file containing your login info so that no one but you can access the account. That said, it's still an unofficial client, so nobody can promise that Discord will never take action against your account. Just use it normally and by that I mean, don't be a weirdo.
And hey, since you're already getting Discord on your 3DS, why not come join my server too?
