Gunman Clive Collection
Gunman Clive is a neat little run and gun platformer that takes the classic action of games like Mega Man and gives it a charming wild west twist. As you can guess, you play as Clive, a gunslinger on a mission to rescue Ms. Johnson from a gang of bandits, blasting your way through short stages filled with enemies, traps, power ups and the occasional boss fight. The gameplay is pretty straightforward: run, jump, shoot and not tryna get yourself blown up in the process.
What really makes the game stand out tho is its gorgeous handdrawn aesthetic, with characters and environments looking like sketches on old yellowed paper and the tight controls make the whole thing a joy to play. There's even Ms. Johnson herself as an alternate character, whose ability to float through the air like Peach gives you a slightly different way to tackle the stages. The only real complaint is that the adventure is over surprisingly quickly but it's such a polished little experience that people don't mind coming back for another round.

Gunman Clive 2 takes everything that worked in the original and decides to go wild with it. After rescuing Ms. Johnson, Clive finds himself dealing with another bandit threat, this time embarking on a much bigger adventure across all sorts of bizarre locations. The familiar run and gun gameplay returns, but the level design is considerably more creative, throwing dinosaurs, ninjas, flying sections, horseback rides and even a panda chase into the mix. You can also play as Ms. Johnson or the newcomer Chieftain Bob who trades firearms for a spear and completely changes how you approach enemies and there's even a secret character to unlock, alongside 3 difficulty settings to give you more reasons to revisit the campaign. Visually, the sequel keeps that lovely illustrated paper aesthetic but introduces a much richer color palette, making every new environment feel distinct without losing the series' identity.
It's still a fairly short adventure but there's so much more variety packed into it that the experience rarely gets a chance to grow stale. If you enjoyed the first game, this is pretty much everything you'd want from a follow up.
