Super Smash Bros.

Alright, so this game got all the fast-paced action of its bigger consoles siblings but squeezed onto the 3DS, which honestly sounds like a disaster waiting to happen, yet somehow, it works. The roster is stacked with Nintendo’s all stars and a few surprise guests, each bringing their own flair to the battlefield. The controls are tight, tho the Circle Pad isn’t exactly ideal for precise movements. Still, the fact that you can take Smash on the go is kinda wild when you think about it.
Visually, it’s impressive for a 3DS game. The stages are packed with detail, and the character models pop even on the smaller screen. Sure, it’s not as crisp as the Wii U version, but it holds its own. The soundtrack is a banger, mixing remixes and classic tunes that’ll have you nodding along mid match.
Gameplay-wise, it’s pure Smash. The mechanics are the same as ever: knock ‘em off the stage, don’t get knocked off yourself. The new Smash Run mode is a fun distraction, mixing platforming and power-ups, but it doesn’t have the same staying power as the main event.
Online play is… well, it’s there. When it works (with Pretendo), it’s smooth, but lag can turn matches into a slideshow. Local multiplayer is where it shines tho, gathering a few buddies for some handheld chaos is a blast. The lack of certain modes from the Wii U version stings a bit, but the core experience is solid. Customization’s a nice touch, letting you tweak characters with equipment and special moves, even if some combos feel downright broken.
At the end of the day, this is still Smash Bros., just in your pocket. It’s not perfect, the hardware limits are noticeable, and some features feel stripped down, but it’s a miracle it works as well as it does. If you’re a fan of the series and don’t mind the occasional hand cramp, it’s an easy recommendation.
Ultimate Modpack
Now, imagine taking Smash to the Ultimate, and then throwing in a bunch of joke characters just because you can. That’s the Ultimate modpack in a nutshell. It’s not official, it’s not balanced, and it’s definitely not subtle, but it had everything from polished menus and proper character imports to absurd additions like Shaggy and Bowsette, all crammed onto the humble 3DS hardware.
Now here's the sad reality, this modpack has become lost media. Every official download link has gone dark, and despite some people remembering it, nobody seems to have a complete build anymore. Also, I've tried several methods to turn modpacks into a .CIA, SaltySD, LayeredFS, but had no luck. The individual character mods might still be floating around GameBanana, but the complete experience as originally intended is gone.
