ULTRA STREET FIGHTER IV

STREET FIGHTER IV packs all the intensity of the arcade experience into a portable format. The roster is stacked with 35 fighters, from classics like Ryu and Chun Li to newcomers like Juri and Hakan. Each character feels unique, with their own movesets and playstyles, so whether you're a rushdown maniac or a zoning specialist, there's someone for you. The controls are tight, and pulling off combos feels satisfying once you get the hang of it. The animations pop, and the stages have that signature STREET FIGHTER vibe, full of energy and little details that make battles feel alive.

STREET FIGHTER IV

SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV

The mechanics are deep but accessible: easy to pick up, tough to master. The Focus Attacks, Ultra Combos, and EX moves add layers of strategy, making every match a mind game. The AI isn’t a pushover, either; even on medium, it’ll punish sloppy play. There’s also a ton of single player content, from Arcade Mode to Trials that’ll test your execution. It’s a complete package for both casual brawlers and hardcore fans. The music is good, with remixed tracks that’ll get you pumped.

Plus, the fact that this version runs at smooth 60FPS is a game changer. Fighting games live and die by their frame rate, and this one delivers: no jank, no slowdown, just clean, crisp action. Every Hadouken, Shoryuken, and Ultra Combo flows perfectly, making the gameplay feel as responsive as the arcade or console versions.

And let’s talk about those graphics, they’re seriously impressive for a handheld. The character models are detailed, the animations are fluid, and the special effects pop without ever dragging the performance down. The stages are vibrant, packed with little details that make them feel alive, whether it’s the crowd reactions in the background or the way lighting shifts during supers.

Some might’ve expected compromises for a portable version, but nah, this thing holds up. The visuals are sharp, the colors are bold, and the art style stays true to STREET FIGHTER’s iconic look. Also, it’s so packed with content, the gameplay is rock solid, and it’s just fun as hell. Yeah, it’s got some minor flaws, but when the action’s this good, it’s easy to overlook them. If you love fighters, this one’s a knockout.

ULTRA STREET FIGHTER IV

There's a mod that brings the 3DS up to speed with ULTRA STREET FIGHTER IV's balance changes, tweaking every existing character to match their final version: Ryu's heavy shoryuken becomes a single hit, non cancelable move, red focus attack is added and other adjustments are pulled directly from ULTRA. However, it doesn't add new characters (no Yun, Evil Ryu, etc.), Edition Select, Ultra Double, or delayed wake up due to hardcoding limitations. Local and online play should work if both players have the mod, but mismatched versions will cause desyncs. Touch controls for special moves may also behave weirdly, as some characters' inputs get janky after the changes, but if you're looking for ULTRA's balance without the extra fluff, this is as close as the 3DS version will get for now.
