Persona Q2: Shadow of the Labyrinth
Shin Megami Tensei Persona Q2: Shadow of the Labyrinth is this wild crossover dungeon crawler that throws the casts of Persona 3, 4 and 5 into a bizarre movie themed labyrinth. The story kicks off with the Phantom Thieves getting sucked into a mysterious cinema where each screen leads to a different movie world that’s basically a dungeon filled with Shadows. Soon, they run into the P3 and P4 squads, who are also trapped, and together they gotta figure out why they’re there and how to escape. The plot’s pretty lighthearted compared to the mainline games, but it’s packed with fun character interactions, imagine Ryuji and Junpei bonding over being the local dumbasses, or Futaba and Rise geeking out their navigation skills.

This game's a first person dungeon crawler like the first one, but with some refinements. The dungeons are themed around different movie genres (noir, superhero, kaiju, etc.) and they’re packed with puzzles, traps, and FOEs, those big enemies from Etrian Odyssey you gotta avoid or outsmart. Combat’s turn based and uses the Persona series’ weakness exploitation system. The difficulty’s no joke, especially on higher settings, so Persona 5 fans used to Royal’s smoother ride might get a wake up call.
The chibi art style is still adorable, and the menus have that slick Persona 5 flair. The music? It's Persona, absolute fire. It’s a remix heavy soundtrack with bangers from all three games, plus some new tracks that slap just as hard.
Now, the fanservice. Q2 knows its audience: the P5 gang gets the most spotlight, with tons of unique dialogue, interactions, and even cutscenes that lean into their personalities. Ryuji and Morgana’s bickering? Still at it. Futaba and Makoto being nerds in their own ways? Adorable. Even Kotone who’s criminally underused in Persona crossovers gets sweet moments. Meanwhile, the P3 and P4 teams are just kinda… there. They get their lines, sure, but if you’re here for just the Thieves, you won’t feel like you’re missing much by skipping their scenes.
