DRAGON BALL: Origins
DRAGON BALL: Origins takes us back before Super Saiyans were introduced, Kid Goku’s journey with Bulma to collect the Dragon Balls. The game follows the early arcs of the original Dragon Ball manga, so expect plenty of goofy humor, wild encounters with classic villains like Emperor Pilaf and even the first appearances of Krillin and Master Roshi. The gameplay mixes beat 'em up combat with light puzzle solving and exploration, all wrapped in a charming 3D art style that mimic the anime’s expressiveness.

Gameplay-wise, is basically swing the Power Pole, jump around and unlock new abilities as you progress, like the Kamehameha, which feels so satisfying to pull off. The touch controls work surprisingly well, you swipe to attack, tap for items and even use the mic to blow into it for certain moves, a very DS-ish gimmick, but it’s charming. The sequel improves on everything: more moves, better level design and even coop.
Origins covers the Pilaf arc up through the first World Martial Arts Tournament, while Origins 2 goes from the Red Ribbon Army arc to the Fortuneller Baba saga. The 3D cutscenes hold up surprisingly well for a DS game and the writing's faithful, even if some side quests feel like padding, the main story hits all the key moments. The music's catchy, pulling straight from the classic Dragon Ball OST and the sound effects.
