Black Jewel Reborn
Black Jewel Reborn is an awesome sidescroller that feels like it jumped right out of the classic Genesis era. You pick between two heroes, Ryan the swordsman and Julia the dominatrix amazon with a whip, to stop this dude Darkor from taking over the world with a stolen jewel. The whole vibe is just straight old school fantasy, like something you'd have rented from a video store back in the day.

Jumping right into the action, the game plays super smooth. You've got your basic attacks and a jump attack to mix things up, but the coolest part is the special attack that charges as you beat down enemies. It makes you feel powerful when it finally lights up. There's also this panic button magic move that calls a god to clear the screen, which is a lifesaver when you get swarmed. The controls are tight and responsive, so when you get hit, it feels like your own mistake, not the game being cheap.
Visually, this game is a real looker. The character sprites are detailed with slick animations, similar to Castlevania. Everything from Ryan swinging his sword to Julia cracking her whip just flows so well. The backgrounds are packed with little details that make the world feel alive and it all runs without a hitch. It's clear a lot of love was poured into making it look authentic to the hardware.
The music got that crunchy melodic FM synth sound that the Genesis is famous for. The tunes are catchy and really set the mood for each stage, getting you pumped to slash through more bad guys. The sound effects are super good, with every hit and slash having a satisfying punch to it that makes the combat feel weighty.
