Phantom Gear
Phantom Gear is where you jump and shoot your way through levels, kinda like some of the classic run and gun. You play as Josephine, a girl who gets a sweet set of battle armor after her mom, an engineer, is taken out by this shady group called the Ocular Force. It has sorta sci-fi vibe with ancient artifacts and a mad cult, which sets up a pretty decent reason to go smash some robotic asses.

The sprites are well animated and the backgrounds are detailed, which makes the world feel alive. The movement feels smooth once you get the hang of it, running and gunning has a nice flow. You can unlock new abilities as you go, which is neat because it lets you backtrack and find hidden stuff if you're into exploring.
You get a few different weapons to play with, which helps keep the combat from getting stale. The whole upgrade system is a welcome touch, letting you buy permanent improvements for your gear. It gives you a reason to hunt for extra resources scattered around the levels. The platforming itself can be a bit demanding, asking for some precise jumps but it feels rewarding when you nail a tricky section.
Now, the boss fights ain't no joke. The screenshots show these mechanical things and they live up to the hype in terms of scale and design. The music and sound effects fit perfectly, hitting that nostalgic chiptune style that makes everything feel more intense. You can feel influence from Mega Man X in the fast paced action and the overall look.
