The Series of Haruhi Suzumiya
The Series of Haruhi Suzumiya really feels like stumbling upon an episode of the anime, one you get to actually play through. You play as the narrator Kyon for the summer, dragged into another one of Haruhi's wild schemes to find supernatural stuff around North High. The whole vibe is just right, from the character portraits to the backgrounds, it absolutely nails the look and feel of the series.

Most of your time is spent reading through the story and making choices, but there's a neat twist with the Haruhi Meter up top. You've gotta keep her interested in the mystery, otherwise she gets distracted and who knows what happens.
It adds a bit of pressure in a fun way. You also get to split the SOS Brigade into teams for investigations, and who you pair up with changes the scenes you see, which is cool for replayability. Also, there are some little exploration bits where you tap around the school with the stylus. It's simple but it makes you feel more involved than just tapping through text.
Then, outta nowhere, things get intense. The game throws you into this puzzle phase inside Closed Space, and it's kinda like a weird frantic version of Minesweeper. You're on a grid, searching for these hidden «singularity points» before Haruhi shows up. You gotta tap and hold to scan tiles, figure out where the weirdness is hiding and then scrub it away. It's surprisingly tense!
Before each puzzle, you pick who to play as and who partners with Haruhi to slow her down. You can use collected topics to stop accidents or buy more time, and each character has special power ups that help. It sounds complicated, but it clicks after a minute and becomes a really satisfying strategic break from the story.
The plot is split into episodes, each with its own creepy mystery, starting with a rumor about a man eating classroom. It's got that classic SOS Brigade mix of slice of life banter and genuine sci-fi weirdness, with the mysterious girl in a white hat popping up. The writing feels authentic, like the characters are actually themselves. Partway through, you even have to play chess. Yes, actual chess.
Which is a random but kinda charming hurdle. After you clear the first episode, an extras mode unlocks where you can hang in the clubroom, replay music, check out artwork, or tackle more chess puzzles. There's a decent amount to dig into after the main story.
