Balatro
Balatro is genuinely one of those games that grabs you by the brain and doesn't let go.
It's not really poker even tho it uses poker hands, it's more like a roguelike deckbuilder where you're just trying to hit a highscore by playing cards but the twist is you get to equip unhinged Joker cards that break the rules. You start with a basic deck and after every round you earn cash to buy new cards from booster packs that do wild stuff, like turning all your clubs into mult multipliers or making your glass cards give insane points but risk shattering forever. The real magic is how fast things escalate, one minute you're barely scraping by with a pair and the next you've got a setup where playing a simple flush sets off a chain reaction of effects that makes your score meter catch on fire. It's ridiculously addictive and even when a boss blind completely counters your build and you lose, you immediately want to start a new run 'cuz you just know there's a crazier combo out there waiting for you.

As you may know, there's a super cool port for the GBA which tries to recreate not just the gameplay but all those satisfying visual effects and even the sound. They've got a good ammount of the Jokers implemented already and they've already the core mechanics like scoring, card effects, and the shop. The controls are mapped out for the hardware too, so you can pick cards, sell Jokers and reorder your cards. It's meant for people who already know how Balatro works and seeing a game this complex and modern being squeezed onto old hardware while staying really faithful to the original is just mindblowing.

Then there's the Clanker Edition, which is a mod on top of that demake. This version gives you a toggle, so you can play the normal mode if you just want the classic Balatro experience on the GBA but if you're feeling spicy, you can flip on Clanker Mode. This is where it gets more community driven 'cuz they've started adding their own original Jokers into the mix and honestly I don't even know what they do.
They've also been patching out bugs from the original and even nerf their custom cards between updates, which shows they're listening to feedback and thinking about balance, even if the core mod is meant to be chaotic.
