Cave Story
Cave Story, originally created by Daisuke Amaya, is a pixel-art indie platformer that’s heavy on exploration, narrative, and charming characters. You play as Quote, a little robot who wakes up in a mysterious cave filled with bizarre creatures and a gripping story about the Mimiga, a rabbit-like race threatened by a villain named Balrog and his master, the Doctor. As you navigate through the cave, you gather weapons, unlock new abilities, and unravel the secrets of the world, all while interacting with a colorful cast that includes Curly Brace, a fellow robot who’s both endearing and essential to the plot.

The 3DS version of Cave Story is a charming experience, showcasing the game's iconic gameplay and narrative while adding some modern touches. The stereoscopic 3D effect adds depth to the environments, making the already rich pixel art pop in a way that feels fresh and engaging, and the remastered music adds a layer of nostalgia while still feeling new.
Cave Story 3D
Cave Story 3D is a delightful reimagining that brings something new to the table, but it might not resonate with everyone, especially the fans of the pixel art aesthetic. Some players love the depth that 3D brings tho. It also runs at a lower framerate (30 FPS) compared to the 2D version (60 FPS), which can make the gameplay feel less smooth.
