Yoshi's New Island

Yoshi’s New Island brings back everyone’s favorite dino, T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas, for another round of egg-chucking, flutter-jumping action. The story’s your classic fare, Baby Luigi gets kidnapped (again) by Kamek’s minions, and Yoshi has to trek through a bunch of colorful, obstacle-filled islands to rescue him. Along the way, you’ll munch enemies, turn ‘em into eggs, and solve some light puzzles, all while bouncing on platforms and dodging hazards. It’s got that classic Yoshi’s Island vibe but with a fresh coat of 3DS visuals.

The gameplay sticks to what works: Yoshi’s floaty jumps, egg-throwing mechanics, and transforming into vehicles like helicopters and submarines. It’s fun, but it doesn’t innovate much. The levels are solid, though some feel a bit uninspired compared to the creativity of the first entry. The art style’s a mixed bag, some love the crayon-like aesthetic, while others think it looks cheap next to the hand-drawn charm of the original.

The music’s… Well… you get a lot of kazoos. Like, a lot. It’s quirky at first but gets old fast. The difficulty’s decent, with some later levels offering a real challenge. That said, if you’re craving more Yoshi platforming, you'll have a good time with this game.
