Super Mario Bros.

So what about the first Mario game?

While the Game Boy Advance got a port of the original Mario as part of the Classic NES Series, it's exactly what the name says: the classic NES game, with no changes. But there's a version that outshines all the others.

Super Mario Bros. Deluxe it's the most complete version of the original Super Mario Bros. out there. The game physics are tighter, starting you with five lives instead of three, with an option for ten. Many original glitches were fixed, and you can save at any time, saving your current level. There’s a world map, new animations for water and lava, and updated Luigi sprites. New sounds enhance actions like jumping and skidding. Due to the smaller Game Boy Color screen, the playing space is cropped, adding some difficulty but allowing backtracking and camera adjustment. The HUD is condensed, showing only the essential info during levels.

And that’s not all, it also includes a variety of extra modes and features. You can tackle the Challenge mode, play with high scores, and race against Boo in You VS. Boo. There’s also a VS. Game mode and the Toy Box, which includes the Fortune Teller, Mystery Room, Calendar, and Yoshi Is Here! Additionally, the game features an Album with Awards, printable icons, pictures, Story Mode artwork, and Game Boy Printer banners.
