Friday Night Funkin' Lullaby
Friday Night Funkin' Lullaby grabs classic Pokémon creepypastas, from the tragic tale of Pokémon Lost Silver to the title's own Hypno's Lullaby and turns them into total banger songs, all while perfectly keeping the eerie and unsettling vibes that made those stories so iconic in the first place, that's why is my favorite FNF mod of all time. The story kicks off with The Boyfriend just disappearing one night, and his Girlfriend, obviously freaked out, sets out to find him, then finds this super suspicious bloody trail and meets this tall creepy Hypno just lurking around. He's all like «yeah, I saw your guy, follow me».
You just know from the get go that this is a terrible idea and he's absolutely up to no good, but she actually gotta follow him to find BF.

The first thing you notice in this port is the visual style. The backgrounds and the environments are honestly really well done; they captured that dark, gritty visuals of the original PC version. It sets the mood amazingly. The character sprites tho… they're kinda choppy, like, they move like GIFs slightly out of sync (because they literally are ) which can be a little distracting. But honestly, that's just a PSXFunkin thing, it's how all their ports look, so it's a minor gripe. You get used to it after a minute, the animations changing every second once the song starts and the awesome atmosphere more than makes up for it.
Gameplay-wise, this is where it gets really cool. This is a port of the first build so it only goes up to the MissingNo. song. The songs here are absolute bangers, from the unsettling yet catchy lyrics of the first Hypno song, Safety Lullaby, to the pure chaos of the Lost Silver's track, Monochrome. The best part, and I can't stress this enough, is that the dev didn't port the pendulum mechanic. Thank God! That thing was so divisive and honestly a real pain. Here it's just straight up classic FNF gameplay, which lets you fully focus on the already challenging note patterns and the fantastic music without any annoying gimmicks getting in the way.
For sure, if you play this and get totally hooked on the vibe, you absolutely have to check out the unfinished V2 build. That version is a massive glow up. It adds a whole bunch of insane new content, like a functional shop system, a ton of new songs and unlockables and even a literal Pokédex to collect entries for all the creepy creatures you meet. The new tracks dive deeper into other Pokémon creepypastas with even more bops like Purin, Death Toll (based on Hell Bell), Insomnia and Amusia. It's packed with secrets and it's the definitive, most content rich version of the mod.
It's a major bummer that the original project got cancelled because of some messy N-word drama with the old director, but the good news is that a new director took over and they're doing a full reboot from the ground up, which is planned to come out this Halloween. But back to this port, for what it is, which is a conversion of the very first, simpler build, it's honestly pretty solid. It's a perfect little time capsule of where this legendary mod began and a really fun, self contained horror experience.
